Enzo Maresca Joins Chelsea
It seems like Chelsea have found their new head coach, as sources suggest the English Premier League (EPL) club have agreed to terms on a five-year deal for Enzo Maresca.
The 44-year-old Italian is currently stationed as a first team manager at Leicester City, which he joined in June last year. Maresca has a three-year contract with the Foxes however, they might be willing to let him go, granted his release clause – which is between £8 million and £10 million – is paid.
Under Maresca, Leicester secured themselves a place in the EPL with a promotion from the 2023–24 English Football League Championship in April. His successes with the team have reportedly attracted interest from several other clubs.
Prior to joining the Foxes, Maresca was part of the coaching team at EPL champions, Manchester City.
Maresca will be replacing Mauricio Pochettino, who left Stamford Bridge by mutual agreement at the end of the 2023/2024 season after the London-based club missed out on one of the top four spots on the EPL table.
According to insiders, Chelsea and the coach are currently finalising an agreement with their lawyers and an official announcement is expected to happen within the next few days.
